I am really hoping Kirby is enjoying his days of green grass and sunshine while they last. As a dog,it’s funny to think he really has no inclination that for the first time in his little life everything is about to change drastically- well weather wise. I have never owned this small of a dog before and the thought of him jumping into the snow and ultimately disappearing, makes me want to laugh, but it also makes wonder more about this winter situation. As he is a Yorkie/Maltese mix he has “hair” as opposed to “fur” or so I am told. Unlike my other dog Poe, who takes after the Pomeranian in the fact he was two coats of fur himself, I haven ever run into this problem. By comparison Kirbys “hair” does seem very different than fur, as it is fine, and limp, and is very easy to see his skin through it, all in all it looks a lot more like the hair on top of my head. I have never been one to dress up my dogs, but it would seem this time there is actually a necessity and a legitimate need for my Canadian-born Kirby. And although we might both look a little ridiculous walking around with him in a little sweater or woolly jumper type of thing, I really do not care if I get looks or asked why in the world have I become one of those people who dress up their dogs. . I have learned there are two types of dressing up, the type where you you put a little frilly dress on them because it “looks soooo cute”, and the type where the dog actually does appreciate the extra warmth it provides. Well that’s all my thinking on this topic, everyone have a nice Sunday!!!
It has actually been horrible, as I have been sick for the last 5 days, and anytime I even go near the draft from the window or door, my throat completely closes up and I am back to square 1 in my recovery process. This means Kirby has also suffered as he has not been able to go to his lovely dog park, which he enjoys very much. I haven’t even been able to walk him, which he is quite happy with as even at 5+ months old he still hates them. Either way it really bothers me as he is a dog used to daily adventures. Luckily we have a big backyard and he has Poe to keep him company. But I can tell with the passing days he is getting even more restless, as this is the look he is constantly giving me as if to say ” whats going on mom?!”….It’s very hard typing with a face like that looking at you,lol
This is Kirby’s first video at about 10 weeks old. He used to do this thing where he would take his toy shoe by the shoe laces and start spinning around with it in circles. I was trying to get him to do that for the camera, but it never worked, as he was too busy wondering what that weird contraption was that I was holding..lol o.O (The leash was on him, because at the time I was in the process of potty training him using the leash method, so he could not travel out of my eyesight)
I thought I should introduce my other dog- he’s my family’s dog really as opposed to Kirby who is strictly mine, including all the responsibilities that come with that. But here is 7 year old Poe, the Pomeranian/ Jack Russell mix!:)
Welcome everyone, to my very first blog entry. This blog is going to focus all around the trials and joys of owning my 5 and a 1/2 month old puppy…soon to be dog Kirby! He is quite possibly the happiest adventurous little dog I’ve owned. I hope this blog turns into a fun community for dog lover’s alike to discuss and relate to one another. I guarantee there will not be one dull moment with Kirby around- being cute also helps:) I have education in the dog/animal world and am hopeful to put it to some use!
Speaking of which, after about 4+ hours finally figuring out the basics of blogger, I think I owe my pets some quality time, as Kirby has resorted to take a mid-day nap due to being completely bored with me as I fiddle away on this computer. By bye for now!
