1 Year Anniversary and MICE!

Hi everybody.

We just found out that today is our very first anniversary of being with wordpress. It is crazy how much time has flown by, and it made me want to look back on this year, through my blog and was nice to see all the adventures and ideas and posts we have made and shared with everyone on here.

anniversary-1x

It is quite cool to think I have started blogging about Kirby since the very beginning of his puppyhood with me, and it is still going. I never knew starting out how long this would last, but it has now become a part of our life, whether it is once a week or thrice a week sharing with you all how this little dogs doing and a bit into our life πŸ™‚

I have made many bloggy friends on here I am glad to say,and has been thus far a great experience, one I plan on continuing….and continuning…etc πŸ™‚

———————————————————————————————————————————————-

Anyways I have been sick the last bit so haven’t been posting lately. Though thought I would update you on my thoughts on mice. I have a very odd relationship with mice, as does Kirby I have come to realize. I cannot help but think they are one of the cutest creatures on this earth. Yet if/when I see one and it scurries across the floor infront of me I do want to jump on a chair and scream. I realize its the quickness and surprise of them that freaks me out. I’m talking about deer mice of course. Oh, you don’t think I mean pet mice do you? No, I mean the little ones that get into your house somehow, start a family/ colony, then before you know it are realizing your house is getting taken over by these little guys! Now I know not everyone is the same, but the small cute and furry animal lover I am I would never ever be able to harm one. I had a hamster you know before I got Kirby, and it was absolutely the sweetest little guy ever. And thus itΒ  is hard for me to differentiate between one and the cute little *cough* annoying *cough* guys who were invading our house for some time.

Eureka, with the help of catch-and-release mouse traps, cheese, peanut butter, and car rides to release, I am pretty sure they have been captured and re-homed. Though that is where their annoying part comes in…you never are to sure are you…

Anyways I decided to do a poll, mice, the house kind, cute and tolerable, or gross and must get rid of at any cost necessary?

But wait, before you answer have a look at these little guys, as there are many different types you know! πŸ™‚

These are Dormouse, specifically found in the UK so I’ve heard, and probably the cutest little guys out there!

And here is our version, DEER MICE

  1. Great post! We think mouse traps (the trap and kill kind) are truly horrific. We think mice are adorable too. We had our “pet” Nibbles living in the garage all last winter and I fed him every day (hubby didn’t know!).

    Happy anniversary!

  2. Happy Anniversary! Kirby is so cute!! I’ve just recently begun blogging so a one-year anniversary seems like an eternity away. On the extermination issue – I go so far as to try and catch bugs and take them outside. My exceptions are mosquitos and fire ants – or anything that could seriously hurt my dogs.

    Best Wishes,
    Just Jody

  3. Happy blogaversary Leah and Kirby! YAY – a whole year – it’s a long time to be making everyone smile with Kirby’s antics. Thanks too for being part of my birthday blog Shell put together on My Three Moggies. It was wonderful seeing you both in the mix!!! Big Hugs and enjoy your blogaversary – do something SPECIAL!

    Hugs, Pam (and Sam)

  4. Happy first anniversary, Leah… Hey, you have come far in one year… Congrats…

I like mice… The thing is woudlnΒ΄t be Kirby jealous if he lacks of attention…
Just for the record, keep that in mind, Leah… You never know !

Welll I wish you a great day ahead & thanks for adding me on twitter (BTW your “Oopss there made me laugh! )

    Cheers !!! XX Aquileana πŸ™‚

  5. Congrats guys…we have little field mice that are cute as a button but not in my house ..catch and release..rats (not pet rats my son had one that was adorable) that hang around the barn no good…see with mice or rats here that means snakes..so have to draw the line…have a great day and again well done on your bloggieversary πŸ™‚ HUgs Fozziemum xx

  6. I’ve heard rats make better pets because they tend to be friendlier and, in some ways, smarter. I agree that mice are cuter. But if I were to have a pet in the rodent family, I’d choose a rat.

  7. Happy Blogoversary, Kirby and Leah! We are so happy for you, and thankful for your friendship. πŸ™‚

We are big animal lovers here. We even catch spiders that get in the house, and take them outside. πŸ™‚

  8. First – a great big CONGRATS on reaching your one year blogiversary!! It does fly by, doesn’t it? I hope to still be here, following along with you, when you celebrate your second one.

As for the mice, I think they are cute and wish them no harm either, but I won’t tolerate them in my home either, only because I know how much damage they can do to your wiring in a very short amount of time. I’d be all for catch and release, but so far we’ve only found one in our house over the years, and he ran into one of our cats before Nick and I ever saw the poor thing. 😦

  9. Hi Y’all!

When I was young and first married there was a field mouse that came out on Sunday morning and sat across the room watching me as I sat curled on the sofa reading the Sunday paper. Then it discovered the bread drawer. The next thing I know hubby has set a trap and one evening I heard a “SNAP” and knew the end had arrived. Since then we’ve been careful to seal all openings around drain and water pipes so the little guys can’t get inside.

    Congrats on your anniversary.

  10. Happy Anniversary! Cannot beliebe we have been blogging 7 years! It goes fast! Mice drive us all nuts if they get in the house! Hope you get this comment…doesn’t seem to be woeking tonight! Xo Jeanne, Chloe & LadyBug

  11. Super post and congratulations on your blogging anniversary wishing you many more years!
I hope your feeling better real soon. I agree mice do frighten me when they pop out but like all creatures they serve a purpose so humane treatment is the right choice.

  12. Yeah, they might be cute, butts they can carry all kinds of nasty things that can be spread to both peeps and pets. And, they can chew up your wiring and all kinds of stuffs in your wall. You really want to catch and release them! My Gpa says, for every one you see, there are 10 you can’t. Now, I don’t know if that really is true, butts it sure does seem to be the case with rats. That’s what we have here. And, no, no catch and release. Sorry, not cute. Dangerous, and destructive, and they WILL find their way back! Ma says YUK!!! That is Ma’s kryptonite!! Rats and spiders!
Anyhu, Happy Happy Blogoversary!!! Blogville just would NOT be the same without you guys!!
I sure hopes your Moms feelin’ better Kirby….Moms with the sickies is just no funs! I’ll send her some POTP!!
    Kisses,
    Ruby β™₯

  13. Happy Anniversary!

Ewww, mice! We’ve had a mouse problem recently ourselves and we also trapped and released. I also found that peppermint oil helps to deter them. I didn’t believe it would work, but after spreading peppermint oil soaked cotton balls allllll over the house and basement, no one has been back. *fingers crossed*

  14. Congratulations on your first anniversary! I’ve just got one for my third! Can’t believe I’ve been on W/P 3 years already!! Your mice are very cute πŸ™‚ We’ve had rat invasions before the cat came along πŸ™‚ The young ones were kinda cute if you didn’t think too hard about it lol like when they peeped over the top of the cooker whilst you were eating dinner! Not so cute when they were chewing through washing machine pipes causing floods in the kitchen, running in the walls at night and chewing everything in reach to shreds – like kitchen units! Nor when they got on the shelves and knocked a bottle of oil off which smashed all over the kitchen floor…but worse when the BIG daddy rat showed up…he was huge and old and ugly and very vicious!!! And you can’t release them after catching them either…it’s against the law so there;s no choice but to kill them which is horrible too. Your little mice look rather more cute and friendly!

    • wow! I am so GLAD we have never had rats, as it was hard for me to tolerate even the mice sometimes when I knew of the damage they were probably causing, but your guys sound like a nightmare! lol!
